An example of how we already make conscious choices ourselves as a company, is the IKEA Fund for Children and Education. Numerous studies show that high-quality care for children between 0 and 3 years is essential for a good start in life. It sharpens cognitive and social-emotional skills and plays an important role in the process of awareness-raising and socialization. Children from vulnerable families, however, remain in the cold. Therefore, the fund provides financial support to child care for families in social housing projects.
Impact
Since the start of the Fund, IKEA Belgium has supported over 130 organizations, providing thousands of children with a better start in life for an amount of €235.000. The projects range from refurbishing a playroom in a daycare centre to caravans as meeting places for young parents.
