“Offer children in poverty a moment of distraction thanks to playing cards”

What

On the 28th of October 2015, an initiative for children welfare was launched in Turnhout. The project was based on the following idea: “Offer children in poverty a moment of distraction thanks to playing cards.”
For this project, Cartamundi worked together with some students of the Thomas More College. As part of their training, the students were given the opportunity to initiate this project. They came up with this proposition: “A meal offered by the WEB and an afternoon filled with animations”.

Impact

Families (in poverty) with children from 3 to 12 could register for free via social welfare organisations like T’antwoord, CAW or OCMW. During an entire afternoon, students from the academic institute Hivset organised entertainment and craft activities for 30 children, including a clown surprise act. During the breaks, the kids could enjoy some healthy snacks, including locally grown fruit. At the end, each child received a goodie-bag along with some nice gadgets, offered both by Cartamundi and Thomas More.
